About blackriver taxidermy
Joel Swecker, owner, has been an avid outdoorsman and artist from a young age were he found interest in tanning of hides, trapping, and artistry in charcoal drawings of elk and other wildlife. In 2014 Joel pursued taxidermy on a commercial level and attended the Montana School of Taxidermy under master taxidermist Jeff Welch in Helena, Montana. Joel also apprenticed under the late Tony Pannkuk, a local taxidermist, renown hunter, and outdoor writer.
Joel takes great pride in his work and ensures each animal doesn't leave his studio unless it is to the standard and liking of his own trophies. Joel's passions, among taxidermy, is archery hunting, especially for elk. Other hobbies include writing, shed horn hunting, and spending time on his Rochester ranch home with his wife, Amy, and their two children, Emma and Noah.
BlackRiver Taxidermy will always strive to create the best mounts and products in reflection of your memorable hunt and trophies to preserve.
